FLIGHT PLANS

APEGGA Researches Member Air Travel

One role of APEGGA Member Affairs is to negotiate agreements with service providers. These agreements leverage the buying power of more than 51,000 members into great deals on everything from rental cars to educational savings plans.

We’re always looking for new arrangements to give your membership even more value. And this time, we’re looking to the skies: the possibility of a deal with an airline.

Before that might happen, however, we need data on members’ flying habits – and you can help us with that, right now.

New Sign-Off System Takes Effect

An innovative, made-in-Alberta system now requires professional involvement when land is remediated and reclaimed at oil-and-gas sites. With the province and five other professional organizations, APEGGA played a key role in developing the system.

Mentors Wanted

Would you like to give back to your profession in a direct, fulfilling way? The APEGGA Mentoring Program could be for you. It allows you to share your knowledge, reach pools of new talent, enhance your coaching skills and earn Continuing Professional Development credits.

You’ll also earn the satisfaction that comes from helping others.
We have a particular need for mentors in the Edmonton and Calgary areas.

APEGGA Seeks Input
On M.I.T., P.Geo., Concepts

At its Dec. 6 meeting, Council supported seeking input from Members and possibly holding Member votes on two possible changes requiring amendments to the Engineering, Geological and Geophysical Professions Act. One would give full APEGGA membership privileges – the right to hold office and the right to vote – to Members-in-Training. The other would create the single designation Professional Geoscientist, or P.Geo.

APEGGA has prepared discussion papers on these matters so Members can learn more about them and provide feedback. We encourage you to click through to these papers and take part in the consultation process.

Links for your response appear at the end of each discussion paper.
We require your response by no later than Feb. 4.
