APEGA is a self-regulating professional association. It exists because the
Alberta Government entrusts professional engineers and/or geoscientists
with the responsibility of governing themselves on behalf of the public.
Two major internal structures make this happen – one for governance and committee reporting, the other for day-to-day staff operations. The flow sheets below further describe these two structures.

OPERATIONS
The Chief Executive Officer is the top manager on the
operations side of APEGA. Mark Flint, P.Eng., also communicates directly with Council and is part of the Executive Committee. He is responsible for operations
and making sure policy directions from Council are put into action by management
and staff. (Click on thumbnail below for a larger image.)
