The FE Examination is open to all APEGA members. If you are an APEGA engineering examination candidate who has been assigned the FE Exam for confirmatory purposes, you will need to apply to APEGA to write the FE Exam to confirm your undergraduate degree for registration. If you are an existing APEGA P.Eng., E.I.T., or University Student (ASAP) member or applicant and wish to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the United States, the first step is to complete the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination. APEGA offers the FE Exam twice a year in Edmonton and Calgary.
The FE Exam is an eight-hour comprehensive technical examination administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). For detailed information about the FE Exam, including exam specifications, please refer to the NCEES website at www.ncees.org. Following your registration with APEGA, you will be contacted to reserve your seat and select your afternoon module with NCEES. Candidates who do not reserve a seat with NCEES will not receive an exam.
If you are applying for registration with APEGA and require more information about your examination assessment, please contact Mohamed Abdi, Technical Examinations Coordinator, at mabdi@apega.ca.
To apply to write the FE Examination, please submit an application using our online form or printable PDF. If you choose the PDF option, please fill out the form and send it to the attention of the Technical Examinations Coordinator at the address below:
