√ New Staffer in APEGGA Ranks
Joining us in the Calgary office is Anne Kelsey as the new administrative assistant in charge of meetings and reception. Ms. Kelsey holds several degrees and also teaches introductory computer courses to seniors through the Kerby Centre.

√ High Standards
APEGGA’s practice standards and guidelines have gone through a major upgrade over the last three and a half years. Lianne Lefsrud, Assistant Director, Professional Practice, tells us that 21 of them have been revised or created over the time period. APEGGA’s Practice Standards Committee wants all of its documents to go no more than five years without an overhaul. Right now, only two don’t comply with that wish.

√ Fall Calendar Filling Up
APEGGA is already gearing up for several fall conferences and trade shows.
The Alberta Urban Municipalities Association trade show is up first on Oct. 4 and 5 at the Shaw Conference Centre. November will see APEGGA at the International Winter Construction Symposium and Expo, held in Edmonton Nov. 14-17, as well as the Western Canadian Innovation Conference, also in Edmonton, on Nov. 28 and 29.

√ Science and Technology Week
Got rocks?
If you’re wondering what they are, bring them along to APEGGA’s Rock and Fossil Clinics in Canmore and Edmonton on Oct. 14. A professional geologist will be on hand to identify participants’ rock and fossil treasures. The clinics are held in conjunction with Science and Technology Week, Oct. 13 to 20, which APEGGA proudly sponsors.
