National Engineering & Geoscience Month

2011 PHOTOS

National Engineering & Geoscience Month (NEGM), kicked off on March 3 with an insert in the Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, Grande Prairie Daily Herald Tribune and Fort McMurray Today. Sixteen teams of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists also gathered at media events in both Calgary and Edmonton to compete in a fun mystery event – design and build the longest nose possible, which must be attached to and directly supported by a person’s head. Armed only with 100 sheets of newspaper, a roll of twine and a roll of masking tape, all it took was 30 minutes for these participants to come up with some ingenious designs!

Enbridge (team two) won the Edmonton competition with a 132 inch nose. In Calgary, Shell Canada’s 114 inch nose took top honours.

We’re encouraging everyone to celebrate NEGM throughout March. For more info, check out the NEGM calendar of events.
