HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP award

 

The Council may confer Honorary Life Membership in APEGGA upon any Professional Member who has rendered eminent service to the Association.


Mr. W. James Beckett, P.Eng.


Mr. Jim Beckett, P.Eng., was raised and educated in Edmonton, and graduated from the University of Alberta Faculty of Engineering with a B.Sc. degree (with distinction) in electrical engineering in 1973.

Employed by the ATCO Group of Companies for almost 37 years, Mr. Beckett is Executive Vice-President, Regulatory and Chief Regulatory Officer. He develops regulatory strategy for the utility companies of the group.

Mr. Beckett previously held a number of management positions within ATCO Electric and its predecessor Alberta Power. Until recently, and for several years, Mr. Beckett was the Responsible Member for ATCO Electric. As such, he was involved in ensuring that the requirements of the Permit to Practice were met and in mentoring engineers within the organization.

An APEGGA Councillor since 2005, Mr. Beckett has been the Chair of several high-profile Council committees. In addition to his work with APEGGA, he is an ardent supporter of the University of Alberta.
