A large number of our members work as contract employees, on either short- or long-term contracts. Often, these contracts require the member to hold a valid Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance policy. Recently, many insurers have refused to issue CGL policies unless the member also held an Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance policy. Since most employment contracts do not require E&O insurance, this requirement by the insurance companies represented a significant additional cost to our members.
APEGA has found several insurers who are willing to issue CGL insurance without E&O policies. Each program is slightly different, and each has certain restrictions, but if you are working under a contract and need Commercial General Liability insurance, one of these providers will likely be able to help you.
