Outreach

Scientists & Engineers-in-the-Classroom Program

Volunteers are needed to help present science topics on aerodynamics and flight and other topics like building and testing, rocks & minerals, electricity, mechanical systems, wheels and levers, and much more. Your expertise and real world application of science will help students to better understand the science they learn, how it impacts their lives, and careers in engineering and geoscience. Presentation kits are available and training is provided. The Scientists & Engineers-in-the Classroom program is a partnered program between APEGGA and Alberta Science Literacy Association.

If you would like to volunteer science classroom presentations, please volunteer with the Edmonton network or the Calgary network.

Closing the Gap: Advances in Applied Geomodeling for Hydrocarbon Reservoirs
October 3-5, The Banff Centre, Banff, Alberta

With the proliferation of geologists applying Geomodeling techniques, gaps have developed between the application of Geomodeling, Geostatistics, the software tools and the appropriate practice of those techniques in the broader community. The meeting plan is to gather practitioners, software vendors and Geostatisticians to present and discuss materials to help focus the participants on the path to ensure the future success of the Geomodeling community. The conference will have 2.5 days of oral presentations, modeling software vendor presentations during the oral sessions, panel discussions and posters.

Monday afternoon’s activities will begin with an oral session; posters will be up on Monday evening and will be available for viewing until end of day Wednesday. Active dialogue is encouraged after each session and time will also be a lotted for panel Q&A discussions at the end of days two and three.
