Volunteers are needed to participate on the organizing committee to help plan events for the branch’s sixth annual Science Olympics on March 5. Volunteers will attend a few evening meetings to select the six mystery events (three for junior high students and three for senior high students) for the 2011 Science Olympics. They will also act as event managers on the day of Science Olympics and will help to purchase event materials on behalf of the branch.
To volunteer, please contact Bruce Thorne by January 28.

Science Olympics is a half day interactive, FUN, hands-on science competition for students in Grades 7-12. The event is sponsored by APEGGA. Students see first-hand how science affects our everyday lives. They are given a series of applications or problem-solving challenges to demonstrate the fun side of exploring science concepts. Events are team focused and follow the Alberta school curriculum. Students cover content areas of scientific studies, while learning to work and interact as a team. They use their science skills and ideas to develop create solutions to problems.
