How to Reduce the SAGD Fuel Bill-
Understanding the SAGD Heat Cycle

Date:   Wednesday, February 14, 2007

Time:  Registration: 11:15 a.m.,  Luncheon: 11:45 a.m.,  Speaker: 12:15 p.m.

Location:  The Fairmont Palliser Hotel,  133 9 Avenue SW

Cost:  $36  Members and Guests, $18 Students

Guest Speaker:  Ian Buchanan, P.Eng., Jacobs Canada

The biggest operating cost for Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) thermal oil recovery is the fuel bill.  So what can we do, and why?  A complete solution requires a close look at energy consumption for the entire SAGD heat cycle from reservoir pore to pipeline and must include an operations perspective during design.

This talk examines the entire system and offers ways to improve the heat recovery and reduce costs for new and old SAGD plants.

The talk topics:

  • Rethinking the glycol system
  • Heat up the stacks
  • Steam Generators with Cogeneration
  • Reducing losses at the pad
  • Package Boilers

To ensure adequate seating please pre-register with the Calgary APEGGA Office at 262-7714 prior to Friday, February 9, 2007. Calgary Branch accepts Visa, MasterCard, or American Express for tickets sold prior to the day of the event.
