Professional Development (PD) requirements in Red Deer without going all the
way to Edmonton or Calgary. The
Central Alberta APEGGA Branch has received tremendous support from the members
for this event in the past 8 years (feedback from members have been very positive). This
event also provides a venue for APEGGA Members in the Central Alberta area to
network with each other.

Climate Change Central – Alternates
to Fossil Fuels / Biofuels in Alberta
Climate Change Central is a unique public-private partnership
that promotes the development of innovative responses to global climate change
and its impacts. Climate
Change Central builds links and relationships between businesses, governments
and other stakeholders in Alberta interested in pursuing greenhouse gas reduction
initiatives.
Mr. John Rilett, B.Sc., M.A. is Program Manager with
Climate Change Central. His
focus area is in transportation and energy efficiency, which includes alternative
fuels, urban land use, transportation management, etc.

Dennis Eisenbarth teaches at the Red Deer College and
has over 15 years of training experience. His courses and consulting are
designed to encourage change, improve performance, and achieve growth.
The Permit to Practice Seminar
The Permit to Practice Seminar is a mandatory seminar
for all those who are listed or wish to be listed as Responsible Members on an
APEGGA Permit. The
presentation at the Red Deer PD event will only cover the mandatory elements
due to time constraints. These include a discussion about APEGGA, self-regulation,
the Permit, the duties of the Responsible Members and Chief Operating Officers,
and the definition of a Professional Document.
Ross Plecash, P.Eng. APEGGA Director Corporate & Member Affairs, graduated
for the University of Alberta in 1988 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He
has worked in the Alberta resource sector as a Rotating Equipment and Lubrication
Engineer and in the electrical utility industry in a management capacity. He
joined APEGGA in 2002 as the Assistant Director of Communications & Public
Affairs, and became the Director Corporate & Member Affairs in 2003.
Mr. Plecash is currently pursuing a Masters of Engineering degree in Engineering
Management, is the Chairman of Alberta Computers for Schools, and has been appointed
to the Council on Alberta Teaching Standards as a public member.

Gold
Bar Waste Water Treatment Plant
Mr. Abdul Mohammed, P.Eng., is the General Manager
/ Supervisor of Engineering Services for the City of Edmonton Gold Bar Waste
Water Treatment Plant. The
Gold Bar facility is one of Canada leading waste water treatment facilities that
has innovated programs such as stream generation using waste gas, partnering
with PetroCanada to utilized treated waste water, etc. Mr. Mohammed, P.Eng.
will provide you with an understanding of various technical and environmental
aspects of these innovative programs at the Gold Bar Plant.
