Most Engineers were born before Google, and some remember life without television, but more than a few of those can even recall when some oil wells were drilled based on a survey with a forked willow branch.

The current ability of a geologist to peer through 5,000 m of solid rock to pin-point a drill bit is primarily the result of geophysical technology developed since World War II. The presentation will discuss some ventures and adventures in geophysics along its way to a truly global industry.
