APEGGA Central Alberta will be presenting Lindsay Mitchell, Director of Professional Engagement for Engineers Without Borders Canada (EWB). Lindsay will be coming to Red Deer to speak about how Engineering plays a vital role in human development around the world. She will discuss EWB’s vision for what they do, some current projects and objectives as well as how engineers and non-engineers can get involved either locally or overseas.
Lindsay first became involved with EWB while studying Civil Engineering at McGill University. She immediately connected with the values and vision of the organization and has since held a variety of roles; President of the McGill University Chapter, an overseas volunteer in Ghana, Speaker Coordinator for the 2006 National Conference and most recently as the Co-Leader of the Calgary Professional Chapter. Following graduation from McGill, Lindsay spent two years in Calgary working as a Project Manager for Imperial Oil before she joined EWB’s national management team in the summer of 2008 as Director of Professional Engagement. Her role involves supporting the development of the Professional Chapters, engaging the profession in global engineering and building opportunities for engagement of a broad network of EWB supporters.
In 2008 Lindsay was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in the Future Leader’s category.
