Providing an integrated transportation solution utilizing various forms of existing mass transit infrastructure has always been a challenge faced by major cities worldwide, and as London prepares to host the world in 2012 (Summer Olympic Games) the more significant challenge has been the need to upgrade existing rail & tube (London Underground) transportation facilities to deliver the expected levels of service during and after the Games. Significant lessons can be learnt from London’s approach, by cities with LRT/mass transit expansion ambitions.

The presentation will take the audience through 6 major ongoing transportation projects in London totaling approximately $70Billion in value and with an expectation to further transform mass transit solutions in the United Kingdom’s capital city. The presentation will be wholly interactive with open discussions with the audience in reviewing global and local transportation solutions and future strategies. The impact of funding and increasing demand of mass transit solutions in Calgary and public perception of long term transit solutions will form the closing stages of the presentation & discussions.

This promises to be a very interesting overview at a global and local perspective, with significant ‘best practice’ ideas certain to emanate.
