Habitat for Humanity – Red Deer Project 2005 June 7 , 2005
Central Alberta
Branch’s series of “ Lunchtime
Forum” events, held every first Tuesday of the month.
Habitat for Humanity (HfH)
is an independent, charitable, faith-based housing program dedicated to the elimination
of poverty housing by building homes in partnership with families in need around
the world. HfH builds simple, decent, and affordable houses and provide interest-free
mortgages to families who would otherwise not be able to purchase their own home.
The Habitat program is about home ownership and providing a long-term solution
designed to break the poverty cycle. (For more information, see http://habitat.ca/abouthabitatc1.php).
APEGGA’s
Central Alberta Branch, as part of our Legacy Project for the Alberta centennial
year, has decided to help this organization in 2005.
The
Red Deer chapter plans to double their efforts in 2005, by building 4 townhouses;
each will be two stories and about 130 square metres. Kim Pasula and Raymond
Morin, Directors of HfH Red Deer Region, will present a background of HfH, with
specific emphasis on the Red Deer chapter and the 2005 project. They will also
answer your questions about volunteering on this project.
This
presentation may be of interest specifically to those members who are looking
to volunteer at such an organization, and generally to all members.
