Edmonton Downtown Revitalization: A Look Back and A Look Ahead

By the early 1990’s our Downtown had certainly hit rock bottom but, because of a number of coincidental factors, by 1998 we were starting to see very hopeful signs that we were creeping back and that revitalization of the core seemed to be a very real trend. Right now, little more than a decade later, we’re a couple of City Council decisions away from wildly exceeding all expectations and, instead of creeping forward, we’re on the verge of leaping forward with changes that will not only impact our Downtown as never before but quite possibly change the whole of the Edmonton Capital region.

Please register online or call Colleen Leliuk 780-426-3990 (1-800-661-7020) Registration deadline - October 13. No-shows will be billed. Payment can be made in advance by credit card: VISA, MasterCard or American Express.

During the beginning of the 21st century, Integrity Management Programs (IMP) for pipelines were formally introduced in North and South American pipeline systems via regulations (i.e. NEB, ERCB, BG OGC, US DOT PHMSA, Peru DS) and industry consensus standards (e.g. API 1160, ASME B31.8S, CSA-Z662, ISO 14001, BSI PAS 55). However, the need for continuously improving the IMP effectiveness has recently led regulators and industry to look for advancement in a holistic, systemic, sustainable, systematic, optimal and integrated way.

The purpose of this seminar is to raise awareness of an approach to advance Pipeline Integrity Management Programs using Management Systems to increase their effectiveness in reducing risks to the public, environment and business.

This seminar will be of specific interest to engineers and managers planning in the near future to, or currently working on pipeline integrity management programs within a management system approach. Attendees in Calgary and Edmonton will interactively participate through individual and group activities to understand the concepts and how to apply them.

Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:

1. Realize that integrity management has been, and continues to be, driven by challenges; and holistic strategies are now needed.
2. Identify, differentiate and interconnect Pipeline Integrity Management Programs (IMP) with Management Systems.
3. Distinguish IMP and MS element-based root-causes on publicly available pipeline incidents.
4. Gain insight from the lessons learned on applying IMP with an MS approach.
5. Recognize the different IMP and MS elements in today's industry standards and regulatory framework.

Registration Deadline: Friday, October 14

Please note, seating is limited and pre-registration with advance payment is required.
