EGGP Act Changes Affect R.P.T.s;
Designation Renamed Professional Licensee
The provincial government is about to proclaim changes to the Engineering, Geological and Geophysical Professions Act. Among those affected by these amendments are APEGGA members entitled to use the Registered Professional Technologist (R.P.T.) designation.
The designation R.P.T. is being converted to Professional Licensee.
All existing R.P.T.s will have their titles changed administratively. This is an automatic function of APEGGA – you do not need to take any action to make it happen.
Under the Professional Licensee designation, you will still be able to practice independently in your defined scope.
You will receive an official letter from APEGGA within the next two weeks explaining the conversion in further detail.
More information on these and the other changes to the EGGP Act appears in a story in the October PEGG Online.
