Celebrate Partnerships
In Professionalism

Every day, APEGGA’s professional members bring their expertise to multidisciplinary teams in a host of sectors. This year’s Annual Conference theme, Partners in Professionalism, underlines the importance of engineering and geo-science teams in the development and well-being of Alberta and the world.

You — our members — partner in a myriad of ways to protect the public, build communities, manage and operate companies and other organizations, and put technology to work for everyone’s benefit. We invite you to celebrate this role by taking part in self-government, attending top-notch professional development sessions and mingling with your peers throughout the spectrum of the APEGGA professions.

From April 25-28, APEGGA’s Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting will take place at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre and Fairmont Palliser Hotel. Four powerful days are planned, starting with a return of Executive Track Seminars. Last year’s seminar was so successful, the Executive Track has expanded to two half-day seminars on Wednesday, April 25. Two full days of PD seminars will follow, April 26 and 27.

“We are pleased to offer a diverse combination of seminars to help participants keep current with new developments in technology, management and business,” says Nancy Toth, MA, CHRP, Manager, Professional Development and Human Resources. “This year we are offering six two-day streams, and there will be something for everyone.”

The technical streams target sustainable development and management of mega-projects. On the soft-skills side of the conference, both Michael Canic and Dr. Gabor Maté are back by popular demand. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear other inspiring speakers, such as Dr. Larry Ohlhauser, MD, and public member on APEGGA Council, who will be speaking about healthy CEOs, and Anna Marvelas, who has transformed many workplaces across North America with her approach to managing trust to improve the bottom line.

During the evening of Thursday, April 26, participants can hit the beach for the Elvis Blue Hawaii Fun Night at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel. Here’s an opportunity to wear your loudest Hawaiian clothing, dress up as Elvis, or just come as yourself to relax and socialize with colleagues.

Another highlight of the conference is the annual Summit Awards Gala, held on Friday, April 27. At the gala, individuals and corporate members will be honoured for their outstanding professional, technical and community service achievements. Gala guests can also enjoy the creative talents of members and their families at the sixth annual APEGGA Art Show, held prior to the Summit Awards celebration.

On Saturday, April 28, members have the opportunity to become directly involved in the business of the association at the Annual General Meeting. The AGM is the pivotal event of the conference, and members are encouraged to attend to vote on matters that are brought before Council, hear about issues of importance relating to APEGGA and the professions, and present motions for consideration by Council. The AGM luncheon follows the meeting.
