The APEGGA Staff Benefits Committee is seeking a Professional Member as a committee volunteer. Reporting to APEGGA’s Council the Committee is responsible for the oversight of the staff pension plan, with current assets approaching $7.5M. With the assistance of paid consultants, the Committee ensures that the Association is meeting its legal and fiduciary responsibilities to its stakeholders.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
Be licensed as a Professional Member with APEGGA
Be good strategic and analytical thinkers
Be capable of handling complex problems
Applicants may:
Have experience in the management of pension plans and fund assets
Duties and Expectations
The Committee meets 4 times per year for about 2 hours. Meetings are often by teleconference but may be face-to-face in either Edmonton or Calgary if the nature of the issues dictates.
Committee members are expected to:
Serve a three year term
Prepare for meetings by reading the agenda materials
Attend meetings
Participate fully
Attend training session(s) (the Committee is currently undertaking a governance review)
