After some months of searching for the right fit, APEGGA has found a new Manager, Geoscience Affairs, Mr. Frank Scheibli, P.Geol. He will begin August 9.
Mr. Scheibli brings with him more than 16 years of environmental consulting experience with companies across the country. Most recently, Mr. Scheibli was the site manager for CH2M HILL Canada Limited.
“The primary objective is to strengthen relationships with the geoscience community while building a healthy respect for the role that APEGGA plays in our society. The province of Alberta is experiencing dynamic growth, geoscientists have a significant role to play in that growth and the role we serve as professionals could be improved,” said Mr. Scheibli.
Consulting skills were not the only favorable factors in his selection for this position. Mr. Scheibli holds a double undergraduate degree in both geology and geography from the University of Western Ontario as well as a master’s degree in geography from the same university. He is an active volunteer with APEGGA’s Outreach program and has served on the Association’s Environment Committee and Appeal Board. He also holds membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
“I see this as a very key role within APEGGA,” Mr. Scheibli said of his new position. “It will require visibility both outside and inside of the Association. I intend to work outside the organization by strategically networking with academia, industry, the consulting sector, regulatory agencies and technical societies and from within by working with the APEGGA volunteers and staff to ensure the needs of the geoscience community and the public are met.”
Mr. Scheibli will be working out of the Calgary APEGGA office. He has lived in Calgary for more than seven years with his wife Annemarie. The couple has two daughters, Erika and Evelyn.
