Weird or What?

Strange Matter Exhibit Visits Edmonton

Something strange is happening in Edmonton this summer, and APEGGA members are invited to be part of the fun — at a discounted admission.

The TELUS World of Science is home to the Strange Matter exhibit until Sept. 4. This hands-on show delves into the world of materials science. A blend of physics, chemistry and engineering, the exhibit is about how things are put together, how they can be improved, and how they can be changed to create brand new materials.

APEGGA members receive 20 per cent off on up to four general admissions for the duration of the exhibit’s stint in Edmonton. All you need to do is show your membership card at the ticket booth.

A few highlights of the exhibit include:

Smash the Glass. The amazing properties of heat-tempered glass will have you testing its strength — with a flying bowling ball.

Amazing Magnetic Liquids. You’ll use magnets to make pools of ferrofluids jump and dance.
Touch Table. Explore the properties of assorted materials, making solids flow like liquids, playing tunes on xylophones made of mixed materials, and looking through a microscope at the structure of common materials.
