Member salaries rose eight per cent in the last year, says a survey that for the first time charts regional pay variations. The annual Value of Professional Services is traditionally the most visited document on the APEGGA website, and it goes online in its full and summary versions as The PEGG hits the streets.
This year, 126 employers took part, which is down from last year’s 156. However, the 2007 report relies on nearly 11,000 data points, so the director respon-sible for it is confident in the results.
Ross Plecash, P.Eng., said one of the reasons for the drop in responses is likely Alberta’s economic boom. “But with the number of data points we have, this is still very sound information,” he said.
The average base salary for APEGGA members, including students, is $105,264, the survey found. Those who work in the Fort McMurray, Lakeland and Yellowhead areas tend to make the most money. Edmonton members tend to earn under the baseline, Calgary employees just above it.
The summary version of the report makes up the centre section of this month’s PEGG.
