Peace River Branch Executive Executive Summary

The Grande Prairie branch has planned a number of activities for the next 12 months to support APEGGA’s goals. The goals describes below reflect how the efforts of the Branch work within our local community.

    • Focus on enhancing existing events through increased communication and awareness of branch activities.
    • Promoting Science & Technology in local schools in the community
    • Continuing to improve our image with the Public
    • Increasing the involvement with our members, especially those outside of Grande Prairie
    • Networking and Professional Development Opportunities, encouraging participation in all area’s technical associations and alumni functions.
    • Increase awareness in Mentoring

The 2001 Business Plan focuses on enhancing existing events through increased communications and awareness. The level of activity (number of events) in the branch will remain the same as other years. The list of planned activities is detailed in the Activities Section.

1. Public

1.1. Promote Science & Technology in local school schools and industry.

ACTIVITY

Student Outreach Program
  • Educational kit to use in local schools. Offer to visit schools throughout the Region.
  • Promote, select, and recognize winners of the Teacher Awards Program and Science Olympics.
  • Call List divided up between exec members for schools to help promote these events.
  • Outreach Workshop (October). Invite Jeanne/replacement. Possible P.D. day topic.
  • Contacting school guidance counselors to promote programs through APEGGA for grade 12 students.
  • Geoscience Night
  • Focus on having Engineering Challenges

Head office is to be given enough notice to have event flyers mailed out to all members two weeks before the event taking place.
