The meeting

Steve Wyton
introduced himself as the new CBEC Chair. He welcomed old and new members
and asked that they introduce themselves to the committee.

5. CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP SUBCOMMITTEE
The APEGGA
Calgary Branch Corporate Sponsorship Guideline (draft copy), prepared
by Steve, was handed out to everyone at the meeting to review. He asked
those with ideas/suggestions/comments for improving the guideline, to
contact him by phone, or by email, before the next meeting.

6. SPECIAL EVENTS SUBCOMMITTEE
6.1 National
Engineering Week
National
Engineering Week (NEW) will run from March 2-10 this year. There will
be a thirty-two-page insert on it in The Calgary Herald and The Edmonton
Journal on February 28th.
Francis
Chan reported that the Calgary Branch is running two contests for NEW:
¨ A
poster contest at the elementary school level - the winning groups will
get passes to the Calgary Science Centre including a pizza party.
¨ An
essay contest at the high-school level - the winners will get to spend
a ½ day with an engineer at his/her workplace and also receive
passes to the Calgary Science Centre.
7. BRANCH MEETINGS COMMITTEE
7.1 Luncheons
All luncheons
for the season are confirmed with the exception of the one on April
10th - to come up with the topic, and for May - to set the exact date.
7.2 PD
Evenings
The CBMC
is working on scheduling another PD evening before season-end.
