I. Report from Chair

    • Adam McDonald needs to complete a 2002/2003 Business Plan. Elisabeth van Mill to forward previous event budgetary information for the 2002/2003 Lethbridge Branch budget.

II. Event Planning:

It was suggested that a Calendar of Events be produced and distributed to the Lethbridge membership any upcoming events. Noted were the following which require planning (with responsible person(s) in brackets):

  • 2002 Lethbridge Branch BBQ

    • Tentatively scheduled for August 15th, 2002 at Pavan Park (John Take, Elisabeth van Mill)

  • Lunch and Learns

    • Goal is for one lunch meeting at Sven’s per month for September, October, November, January 2003, April 2003, and May 2003 on the 3rd Thursday of each month with one as a technical tour (Mark Bellamy, Rod Maclean).

  • Professional Development Day

    • To be scheduled this fall (October/November) - (John Take, Joe Prozniak, Terry Hood)

  • Christmas Mixer

    • Wine tasting event, tentatively scheduled for November 14th, 2002 (Tony Klauwers)

  • Presidents Visit


    • Tentatively scheduled for February 25th, 26th, or 27th, 2003 (Adam McDonald)

  • 2003 Branch AGM

    Tentatively scheduled for March, 2003

III. Outreach Coordinators

    Lethbridge branch requires outreach coordinators for the 2002/2003 calendar year, with efforts on education of the professions focused on two distinct groups:

      • Schools (Elementary to High School Level) – coordination of job shadow placements, Career Fairs, etc
      • Becky Stewart
      • University of Lethbridge Engineering Transfer Students– coordination and organization of classroom presentations, etc.
      • John Take, Adam McDonald, Mark Bellamy

I.V. Engineering Week 2003 / Science Fair Preparation

  • Revival of Lethbridge Science Fair was discussed
  • Planning for this event should begin immediately
  • Require numerous volunteers for this event
  • Adam McDonald and Becky Stewart to develop an event plan

V. Executive Meetings

    • Ongoing Executive meetings are scheduled for the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
    • Next Meeting: August 14th, 2002 at UMA Engineering
