BRANCH ACTIVITY REPORT
   

February 6, 2002

Branch Meeting:

  • Since the last Branch Chairs' Meeting, the Central Alberta APEGGA Branch has held 3 meetings.

Plant Tours / Events / PD Day / Students Outreach:

  • On Dec 4 the branch held a diner and presentation by Dr. Dave Irvine-Halliday, P. Eng. and Jenny Irvine-Halliday R. N. . the subject was " Light Up the World" and covered their efforts to bring low cost lighting to underdeveloped parts of the world. The event was attended by approx. 45 members and guests

  • On Jan 31 the Branch hosted the annual President's Visit to Central Alberta. Dale Miller's discussion focused on APEGGA's relevancy. The event was attended by approx. 60 members and guests.

  • The Branch has lost several executive members this year due to Career moves out of the area. We are currently recruiting new executive members.

Branch Budget:

  • The branch balance is approximately $1620.

Upcoming Events:

  • The Branch is planning a "Student Outreach Blitz " for National Engineering Week. The goal is to have member volunteers carry out 20 classroom presentations during the week.
  • The Branch is planning a Family Rec. Night on Feb 21st at the Canyon Ski Hill in Red Deer. Local ASET members have also been invited to participate.
  • The annual Student Night in Conjunction with the Red Deer College Engineering faculty is planned for March 5th.
  • PD day planning is starting for our April event.
