CONVERT YOUR DESIGNATION |
You are eligible to apply for enrollment as a Geologist-in-Training or Geophysicist-in-Training with APEGA through our transfer application process if you meet the following requirements:
You meet the academic requirements and are enrolled as a Geoscientist-in-Training in good standing in another Canadian Association; and
Good character and reputation
If you meet these two requirements you can apply for enrollment as a Geologist-in-Training or Geophysicist-in-Training using the Application for Transfer as a G.I.T. (Geoscientist-in-Training) forms.
If you do not meet these two requirements, you can still apply for enrollment as a Geologist-in-Training or a Geophysicist-in-Training, but you will need to apply using the general Application for Registration forms.
A Geol.I.T. or Geoph.IT. can practice geoscience in Alberta and gain the experience
required for licensure as a P.Geo., P.Geol. or P.Geoph. as long as he or
she is working under the supervision and control of a licensed Professional Member.
How do I apply to APEGA?

You should then sign the form, enclose any fee
that is required and mail or fax the signed form to APEGA.
For your own records you should also print out a copy of any form you send in.
Important notes:
For applicants from Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), you can apply using the Application for Transfer as an G.I.T. form only if PEO has determined you are academically qualified and you are enrolled as an GIT (Geoscience Intern) in good standing with PEO. If you do not meet both these criteria, you must apply using the general Application for Registration form.
For applicants from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS), you can apply using the Application for Transfer as a G.I.T. form only if APEGS has determined you are academically qualified, you are enrolled as a G.I.T. in good standing with APEGS, and APEGS has received direct confirmation of graduation from your academic institutions.
