Alex Hemstock Bursary (graduate students)
The APEGA Education Foundation Alex Hemstock Bursary will be awarded annually, in the amount of $5,000, to one deserving engineering graduate student in any discipline attending either the University of Alberta or the University of Calgary. The key criteria for consideration will be financial need.
The Alex Hemstock Bursary is named in honour of Alex Hemstock, P.Eng. Mentoring young engineers was one of the many ways he gave back to his profession over his long and successful career. Although he passed away in 2010 he will continue to make a difference in the lives of young engineers, thanks to the generous donation made by his wife Emily and daughter Betty. This is a wonderful legacy for a man whose passion for engineering and for sharing his knowledge and experience with young engineers, won’t soon be forgotten.
