Why? (less info) Spread Your Generosity The APEGGA Education Foundation provides a way to support educational initiatives throughout the province without necessarily rewarding just one institution. Most APEGGA members have moved to Alberta from elsewhere and find that allegiances align better with Alberta than their place of origin. If a contribution to a broader base of initiatives is your goal then the Foundation may be the vehicle for you. Lever Your Donation Smart investors look for ways to lever their donations.
The net result is a whopping 8 times your personal investment. Attract the Brightest and the Best There's a lot of competition for the best and brightest students. Engineering and the geosciences don’t always come first to mind, unless students have family or friends in the professions. Our professions are often called the invisible professions. It takes time and money at the elementary, junior and senior high school levels to make students aware of the opportunities in engineering and geosciences. The need is particularly acute with young girls and aboriginals. Given the current and projected skilled labour shortages it is important to keep the professions fresh with new talent. APEGGA has a very well respected Outreach program. The program is currently undergoing an audit to determine how it can partner with other organizations to improve even further which could result in funding support for other organizations. Support Education Education needs are great and the Foundation wants you to know where it will be focusing in the near term. With your generosity, as its funds grow, the Foundation will consider other opportunities for involvement. Teachers need support and encouragement to ensure students are being exposed to the applied math and sciences in a way that gets students fired up. The recommendations coming from the Outreach audit may work towards satisfying this need and may provide an opportunity for the Foundation. Secondly, education is much more expensive and students should not have to forego opportunities in our professions due to the lack of funds. The Foundation will enhance its efforts in this area. Who, When, Where, What and How? (more info) Donations are accepted from individuals, corporations and events. Members can further support the foundation by using an AEF affinity credit card. |
