TOPIC: "Managing Conflict"

The main focus of this presentation is to examine effective methods for dealing with conflict. Understand that within the workplace situations will occur where conflict arises, and it will have an impact on you and your working relationships. Since conflict will exist, why not learn how to manage it to your benefit.

Understanding the dynamics of conflict and how to move forward, employing certain skills greatly improves the odds of maintaining workplace relationships. A collaborative environment is by far more beneficial and productive for a corporate atmosphere than a poisoned one. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing the reasons conflict exists as well as how to address these reasons. This recognition allows for greater understanding of the problems being encountered and how they may be affecting the situation.

A realistic method of dealing with and addressing the conflict between different parties will be presented. This model is widely used and has been proven to be highly effective when employed to deal with conflict between individuals, project teams, supervisor and subordinate, contractor and sub contractor, and field worker and land owner to name a few examples.

In order to provide individuals with the correct information to make a correct decisions when dealing with conflict, the last portion of the presentation will be dedicated to understanding existing methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution that are available. These methods, their differences and values will be discussed. Alternate Dispute Resolution methods are a means to reduce costs to you and your organization, but cost can be seen not just in monetary values, but also in personnel, stress, or efficiency as well.

Conflict does not have to be detrimental and can actually prove to be of great value if managed properly. Learn how to make conflict work for you instead of against you.
