2010 APEGGA Science Olympics - Red Deer
Call for Volunteers

Date: Saturday March 6, 2010
Time: 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: Westpark Middle School
3310 55 Avenue
Red Deer

The branch will host its fifth annual Science Olympics on March 6. Your support is needed to ensure its success. Judges are being recruited to evaluate the mystery science events in which students from Grades 7-12 will participate.

The 2010 Red Deer Science Olympics is a half-day interactive, hands-on, science competition for students. It is sponsored by APEGGA. The event is an opportunity to turn junior and senior high students on to the fun side of science. It is also an opportunity to let them know that engineers and geoscientists use science and math in their careers.

Students see first-hand how science affects our everyday lives. They are given a series of applications or problem-solving challenges. Students work and interact within a group. They use their science skills and ideas to develop creative solutions to problems. Events complement the Alberta school curriculum.

To volunteer, please contact Bruce Thorne by Feb. 10.
