WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME

Participation Rates Key to Success
Of Member Services

When we discuss APEGGA membership with new graduates and other potential members, a question often asked is, “What’s in it for me?”

Though licensure and the enforcement of the EGGP Act make up our primary purpose, APEGGA offers a wide range of benefits and other services to its members.

What’s In It For Me? is a series of articles describing these programs.

APEGGA often receives questions from members about the value they receive for their membership dues. Though most concede that their licence is the primary benefit, these members indicate that they want more support in their professional practices.

This usually launches us into a discussion about the various member benefit programs that exist — which sometimes results in the statement, “But I don’t use that!”

It is true that an unused program is of no benefit to our members, so APEGGA monitors participation rates of many of them to ensure that they’re worthwhile. Most programs can be provided for no more cost than that to provide a link to the provider’s own webpage, so even a few participants can justify continuing to offer them.

Some programs, such as the Salary Survey and the Resumé Referral Service, are done internally by APEGGA staff. These require greater participation to be considered worthwhile.

Below is a table of some of our bigger programs, the source of the service, and the participation rates we measured for 2005.

All of these programs and more are available to you as APEGGA members, from our APEGGA Student Advantage Program members all the way to our life members, but in order to gain the benefits you must participate.

If you feel that some program that’s currently not offered would support you in your practice, let us know. Any and all suggestions are welcome. This is your Association, and only with your participation and input can we meet your needs.
