If you listen closely, perhaps you can still hear the applause for the winners celebrated at last year’s ASTech Awards. But believe it or not, it’s already time to round up more prestigious leaders in Alberta’s science and technology community to honour in 2009.
Nominations are now officially open for the 20th anniversary AsTech Awards, which will be announced at a gala in Calgary on Nov. 6, 2009.
Says a release from the Alberta Science and Technology Leadership Foundation: “You may know an individual, organization, or company whose innovative work is deserving of consideration. We encourage you to nominate them and to canvass your colleagues to ensure the best candidates from around the province are included.”
Nomination forms can be filled out online or downloaded. You’re allowed to submit more than one nomination for different individuals or organizations. However, you may nominate only one nominee in any given category. Self-nominations are also accepted.
The foundation was created to celebrate and promote the achievements of Alberta’s scientific and technological communities. The awards are designed to elevate the province’s status as a science and technology leader, and inspire future innovation in Alberta and around the world.
The foundation is a private, not-for-profit society supported by patron organizations from the private and public sectors. Patrons come from diverse industries and backgrounds, including business, government, research and education.
