When we discuss APEGGA membership with new graduates and other potential members, a question often asked is, “What’s in it for me?”
Though licensure and the enforcement of the EGGP Act make up our primary purpose, APEGGA offers a wide range of benefits and other services to its members.
What’s In It For Me? is a series of articles describing these programs.
Registration with APEGGA as a professional engineer, geo-logist or geophysicist indicates that you have undergone an intense scrutinizing of your academic and experiential qualifications. You have met some of the most stringent criteria in the world and are fully qualified to practice in your chosen field.
Membership at the member-in-training level indicates that your education meets our requirements and that you are committed to becoming a fully licensed professional. A permit to practice indicates that your firm employs professional members of APEGGA and adheres to the EGGP Act and Code of Ethics in its business practices.
You have gone through these steps to differentiate yourself from those who do not have the same qualifications. How can you convey this differentiation in the marketplace?
Through the use of the APEGGA logo. The APEGGA logo includes member, permit holder, member-in-training, and student member variations. These versions of the APEGGA logo are available for use on letterhead, business cards, websites and signage.
Your fellow professionals will immediately recognize your licensure and members of the general public will have a clear way to distinguish between professional and non-professional service providers.
Details about the use of the APEGGA logo can be found at www.apega.ca under the heading Member Benefits. If you have any questions regarding this or any other APEGGA Member Benefits, please contact Ross Plecash, P.Eng., Director, Corporate & Member Affairs.
