APEGGA Council is calling a special meeting for members to consider amendments to
The General Regulation of the Engineering, Geological and Geophysical Professions Act.
These changes are necessary to make the EGGP Act compliant with practices prescribed in:
The national Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT).
The Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) between Alberta and B.C.
Both agreements concern the mobility of engineering and geoscience professional members and members-in-training between Canadian jurisdictions.

GENERAL AMENDMENT REGULATION
The General Regulation (AR 150/99) is amended by this Regulation.
Section 10 is amended by renumbering it as section 10(1) and by adding the following after subsection (1):
Notwithstanding subsection (1), an applicant is entitled to be registered as a member in training if
the applicant is of good character and reputation, and
the applicant is registered and in good standing with a professional regulatory organization under an Act of another province or territory of Canada to perform an occupation that, in the opinion of the Board of Examiners, is substantially equivalent, in terms of scope of practice and competencies, to that of a member in training
Section 13(2) is repealed and the following is substituted:
Notwithstanding subsection (1), an applicant is entitled to be registered as a professional member if
the applicant is of good character and reputation, and
the applicant is registered and in good standing with a professional regulatory organization under an Act of another province or territory of Canada to perform an occupation that, in the opinion of the Board of Examiners, is substantially equivalent, in terms of scope of practice and competencies, to that of a professional member.

the applicant is of good character and reputation, and
the applicant is registered and in good standing with a professional regulatory organization under an Act of another province or territory of Canada to perform an occupation that, in the opinion of the Board of Examiners, is substantially equivalent, in terms of scope of practice and competencies, to that of a licensee.
Section 14.1 is amended by adding the following after subsection (1):
Notwithstanding subsection (1), an applicant is entitled to be registered as a provisional licensee if
the applicant is of good character and reputation, and
the applicant is registered and in good standing with a professional regulatory organization under an Act of another province or territory of Canada to perform an occupation that, in the opinion of the Board of Examiners, is substantially equivalent, in terms of scope of practice and competencies, to that of a provisional licensee.
