Volunteer Positions Available
APEGGA's Professional Practice Department is looking for
APEGGA engineers, geologists and geophysicists to fill vacancies
on the following committees and boards.
Most positions are for three-year terms. Volunteers are expected
to attend committee meetings regularly - approximately 6 to
8 times each year. Meetings are normally one-half day each.
Meeting locations usually alternate between APEGGA's Edmonton
and Calgary offices and are also conducted by video conference.
Occasional travel will be required to attend face-to-face
meetings. Authorized travel expenses will be reimbursed. In
addition to meeting attendance, volunteers will be required
to commit time to certain additional duties depending on the
particular committee.
Summaries of the committees' activities can be found in the
Annual Reports on APEGGA's web site at www.APEGGA.org.
The web site also provides each committee's terms of reference.
Practice Review Board
Minimum of 10 years of practice experience required. Duties
also include conducting reviews of individuals' and permit
holders' professional practices, and possible participation
on subcommittees conducting general inquiries.
Discipline Committee
Duties also include sitting as a member of a discipline hearing
panel and/or serving as case manager on matters that are decided
without the need for a formal hearing.
Practice Standards Committee
Registration as a permit holder's Responsible Member is preferable.
Duties also include participation on subcommittees for the
development of practice standards and guidelines.
Environment Committee
Duties also include preparation of draft position papers
on environmental issues and development of practice standards
or guidelines.
Please submit an application indicating the committee for
which you wish to be considered with your name, address, phone,
fax, email and employer information. Include your field of
practice or interest and indicate your applicable experience
or expertise. If you have served on APEGGA committees before,
note which ones and when.
Forward your application by July 31 to:

We greatly appreciate all applications. However, not all
volunteers can be placed since committees require a continuity
of experience, and specific representation from the three
professions or specific disciplines may need to be accommodated.
