National Engineering Week (NEW) is a national celebration of engineering excellence. APEGGA is dedicated to reaching out to young Albertans and showing them engineering is an exciting, fun and rewarding career choice. APEGGA along with other Canadian provincial and territorial associations will host over 500 events and activities in 2002 to help elementary, junior and senior high school students discover the exciting worlds of science and math.

APEGGA is responsible for regulating the practice of engineering, geology and geophysics in Alberta. APEGGA's authority is derived from a statute of the province of Alberta, The Engineering, Geological and Geophysical Professions (EGGP) Act. Under the EGGP Act, licensure with APEGGA is required to practice engineering, geology or geophysics Alberta. APEGGA has served Albertans since 1920, now with over 36,000 members.
