marc.jpg (9126 bytes) Mark Tokarik, LL.B., P.Eng., has been appointed APEGGA Assistant Director, Registration and Compliance, effective April 5. He will be based in APEGGA’s Edmonton office.

Mr. Tokarik graduated in 1981with a B.Sc. in civil engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, and following graduation worked with Cambrian Engineering (now AGRA Monenco) in Saskatoon. He returned to the University of Saskatchewan in 1986 to study law and obtained his L.L.B. in 1989. He continued to work in engineering during summers while attending law school. He practiced law in Saskatoon from 1989 until 1996, when he moved to St. Albert, Alberta. Mr. Tokarik, practiced law in Alberta for the last two and half years.

In his new position, he will work closely with APEGGA Director, Registration and Compliance, Dave Todd., P.Eng., in the day-to-day management of the Registration and Compliance Department. The department administers both applications for individual and corporate memberships in APEGGA. Under its compliance function, the department pursues violations of the title and practice by those holding themselves out to be practicing engineering, geology and geophysics in Alberta, or those not meeting the provisions of the Engineering, Geological and Geophysical Professions Act of Alberta.

In carrying out his duties, Mr. Tokarik will also work closely with APEGGA’s Board of Examiners and the Enforcement Review Committee.
