Inquiry into Stamping Practices

The Practice Review Board (PRB) is conducting an inquiry into how the membership is applying the provisions of the policy of professional designations, professional stamps and Permit stamps. In the near future, the board will be sending to selected firms a brief questionnaire to provide the PRB with a better picture as to how member firms are applying professional stamps and Permit to Practice stamps. Subcommittee Chair John Nicholl, P.Eng., says: "The PRB approved the inquiry into stamping practices to gain a better understanding of the typical procedures used by today’s firms and to understand some of the issues and difficulties that might arise in the present regulations related to applying stamps to drawings and documents. We have selected firms to receive the questionnaire based upon size of the firm, area of practice and location. Not all firms will be questioned. We are only looking for a snapshot of the industry; and it was felt that it would not be necessary or practical to survey all Permit holders."
Mr. Nicoll requests, on behalf of the PRB, that firms that receive the questionnaire take a few minutes to complete and return as soon as possible to the APEGGA office. For those firms that might be interested in seeing the questionnaire or submitting a response, the questionnaire will be posted here on the APEGGA website.
