APEGGA & E.I.C. Agree On CPD Co-operation

APEGGA and the Engineering Institute of Canada (E.I.C.) have signed an agreement in principle aimed at recognizing the importance of lifelong learning for professional engineers.

Signed June 18, while representatives from APEGGA and other associations were gathered in Yellowknife for the annual meeting of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers (CCPE), the agreement commits the E.I.C. and APEGGA to promote continuing education programs and professional development activities.

The agreement was signed by APEGGA President Darrel Danyluk, P.Eng., and the departing E.I.C. Executive Director Michael Bozozuk, P.Eng., FEIC. (Mr. Bozozuk has since retired and has been replaced by John Plant, P.Eng., PhD.)

The agreement states: "E.I.C.'s member societies and participating partners have prepared continuing education courses and professional development activities, which are linked to E.I.C.'s website. The E.I.C.'s permanent register for recording Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be available to APEGGA members who have completed the appropriate courses or professional development activities. Transcripts are available from E.I.C. upon request."

E.I.C. is a federation of technical societies and is a leading proponent of continuing education and technical professional development. It was originally founded in 1887 as the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers and became the Engineering Institute of Canada by amendment of an Act of Parliament in 1918. The E.I.C.'s website is: http://www.eic-ici.ca/
