APEGGA Monitors Investigation Of
Horizon Tank Collapse

APEGGA issued a news release today related to a recent tragedy in the oil sands.

“There is no evidence to suggest that unskilled practice or unprofessional conduct played a part in the tragic failure of the structure on the CNRL Horizon site in April. Should such evidence come to light, as a result of ongoing investigations by the province, then APEGGA’s disciplinary process would come into play,” says President John McLeod, P.Eng.

Meet Your New President

John McLeod, P.Eng.

Your Association’s 88th President wrestles with the challenges of a boom economy while APEGGA enters a new era of joint regulation with ASET. John McLeod, P.Eng., a veteran of upstream oil and gas, took the helm April 28 at the Annual General Meeting in Calgary.

Salary Survey

It's time again for you to help us gather data on what APEGGA professionals are being paid. The annual APEGGA Salary Survey needs you!

Your organization is invited to participate in the 2007 APEGGA Employer Salary Survey for engineers, geologists and geophysicists. We’ve sent letters to chief operating officers or human resources managers of our permit-holding companies, inviting them to participate, and we would like you to demonstrate your support for this important initiative. Regardless of the size of your firm, we want to hear from you.

More Climate Change Perspective Needed

In last month’s e-PEGG, we linked readers to a Canadian Standards Association survey on climate change. More response is still needed, the CSA tells us, from engineers involved in water infrastructure, transportation infrastructure and buildings. If any of those areas apply to your work, the CSA would appreciate a few minutes of your time.
