Student Achievements In
Geoscience Get the Spotlight

APEGGA and members bring engineering and geoscience to students, companies and the general public during special week

ON DISPLAY
APEGGA Coun. Darcie Greggs, P.Geol., poses with the new display case at the University of Calgary.

Geoscience students from the University of Calgary Faculty of Science have been awarded Gold Medals donated by APEGGA since 1975. In addition to receiving the Gold Medal, each award recipient is invited by the APEGGA Education Foundation to attend a formal Excellence in Education recognition ceremony.

Continuing in the tradition of celebrating student achievement, APEGGA has funded the design, construction and installation of a display case in the Earth Sciences building. The display case, located on the main floor outside room 136, contains photos of the 2005 Gold Medal recipients, as well as the photos of the recipients of the 2005 APEGGA Scholarship in Geology and the Roy O. Lindseth Scholarship in Geophysics.

The idea of a display case was brought forward by APEGGA Coun. Darcie Greggs, P.Geol., as a way to recognize and embrace the achievements of university students. The display case will be updated every year with photos of the current winners. APEGGA is pleased to profile scholarship and award recipients because they are outstanding individuals whose academic merit demonstrates their commitment and desire to achieve excellence.

Be sure to look for the new APEGGA display case the next time you visit the U of C Earth Sciences building.
