JOINT REGULATION

APEGGA Offers to Partner with ASET

As you will have read in the April PEGG, on March 21, 2006, APEGGA President Larry Staples, P.Eng., made a presentation to the Alberta Government’s Standing Policy Committee on Education and Employment, in which APEGGA offered to partner with ASET in the regulation of our professions under a “one Act, two Association” model. On the advice of the Standing Policy Committee, Human Resources and Employment Minister Mike Cardinal has suggested that APEGGA and ASET meet to discuss the merits of this proposal with a view to seeking a mutually acceptable proposal. Minister Cardinal has offered to appoint a mediator to assist with the discussions and has requested a report within three months.

APEGGA has welcomed this opportunity and looks forward to fruitful discussions with ASET. Below is the presentation made to the Standing Policy Committee, for your information and comment. (Comment form is below.)
