The results are in and once again the Provincial Challenge was a huge success.

There were 84 of teams, comprised of 25 schools for a total of 250 students.

It was wonderful to see that

  • Bonnyville Centralized High School
  • Covenant Canadian Reformed School
  • Ecole Coloniale Estates
  • Good Shepherd School
  • St. Benedict
  • Westhaven Elementary School

All of the entries were excellent; it was a lot of fun judging them. It was really interesting to see the different thought patterns that went into each event.

Going Geodesic

A Geodesic Dome is a type of structure shaped like a piece of a sphere or a ball. This structure is comprised of a complex network of triangles that form a roughly spherical surface. The more complex the network of traingle, the more closely the dome approximates the shape of a true sphere.

First place: École Coloniale Estates’ dome held its predicted weight

Second place: Jean Baptiste Sewepagaham School’s dome held its predicted weight

Third place: St. Benedict School’s dome came within .066kg of its predicted weight

And close behind

Glendon School which came within .143Kg of its predicted weight

Westhaven Elementary School which came within .478 of it’s predicted weight

It would have been an interesting experience to watch as the triangle bend with each new magazine.
