Mike Cardinal Named To
APEGGA Post

APEGGA is welcoming a new minister to the fold. The Hon. Mike Cardinal, a veteran Alberta cabinet minister elected to his fifth term in November, is now responsible for APEGGA's self-governing legislation, the EGGP Act.

Mr. Cardinal is the Minister of Human Resources, replacing the Hon. Clint Dunford, who has moved to Economic Development.

Mr. Cardinal, MLA for Athabasca-Redwater, was first elected to the Alberta Legislature in 1989. He has served as Minister of Sustainable Resource Development, Minister of Family and Community Support Services, Minister of Resource Development (now energy) and Associate Minister of Forestry.

The minister has been a Slave Lake town councillor, and had an extensive career with the provincial government, including a position as a mortgage officer with the Alberta Housing Corporation and one with the Alberta Human Resources Development Authority, where he developed a native housing and relocation program. He also worked for 10 years in the forestry and sawmill industry.
