2005 PROVINCIAL SCHOOL CHALLENGE RESULTS

Thank you to all participants in the 2005 Provincial School Challenge. We hope that students had fun with the challenge and enjoyed testing their science skills. Special thanks to teachers for organizing the challenge and judging at your school.

APEGGA is pleased to announce the following challenge results and extends congratulations to students on some truly impressive results. Prize money won by students for their schools will be presented to them at a school ceremony

PAPER CHAIR CHALLENGE  

Division I – Grades 1 to 3, 15 Teams Participated
  1 st place: Grade 3 team: Yellowhead Koinonia Christian School, Edson
Total weight supported by chair: 92.62 kg
 

2 nd place: Grade 3 team: Dunluce School, Edmonton
Total weight supported by chair: 63.64 kg

  3 rd place: Grade 1/2 team: Calgary Montessori School, Calgary
Total weight support by chair: 24.00 kg
   
Division II – Grades 4 to 6, 28 Teams Participated
  1 st place: Grade 6 team: Winfield Elementary School, Winfield
Total weight supported by chair: 98.83 kg
  2 nd place: Grade 4 team: Yellowhead Koinonia Christian School, Edson
Total weight supported by chair: 97.84 kg
  3 rd place: Grade 5/6 team: Muriel Clayton Middle School, Airdrie
Total weight supported by chair: 62.69 kg
   

MOUSETRAP CAR CHALLENGE

Division II – Grades 4 to 6, 28 Teams Participated
  1 st place: Grade 9 student: St. Mary’s High School, Vegreville
Total distance travelled by car: 30.6 m
 

2 nd place: Grade 9 student: Monsignor J.J. O’Brien School, Calgary
Total distance travelled by car: 29.4 m

  3 rd place: Grade 7 team: Crowther Memorial Junior High School, Strathmore
Total distance travelled by car: 26.23 m
   
Division IV – Grades 10 to 12, 5 Teams Participated
  1 st place: Grade 11 student: Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School, Calgary
Total distance travelled by car: 24.54 m
  2 nd place: Grade 12 student: St. Joseph’s Catholic High School, Grande Prairie
Total distance travelled by car: 15.29 m
  3 rd place: Grade 11 student: Roland Michener Secondary School, Slave Lake
Total distance travelled by car: 11.59 m
