Managing Editor
joins The PEGG

I am pleased to announce the appointment of George Lee as managing editor of The PEGG. George brings 20 years of experience as a community newspaper and freelance journalist to the association publication. Most recently, George edited the weekly Ponoka News for seven years, helping turn The News into a consistent award winner in Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association competitions, particularly in the business writing categories. Between 1987 and 1993, George edited the Sidney Review and then the Saanich News. He began his newspaper career with the Lacombe Globe, after graduating with honours from the journalism arts diploma program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary in 1980.

George fills the position left open by Nordahl Flakstad, who resigned after nine years of dedicated service to The PEGG and APEGGA, to launch his own writing, editing and publication management company in Edmonton.

George has two young sons, Steven and Joseph. He's an auto racing fan and movie buff, and he writes short fiction as a hobby.

We are also taking this opportunity to make The PEGG's titles consistent with those of the publishing industry. Where the editor has the overall responsibility for the publication, the managing editor is responsible for the day-to-day operations and production. In our case the managing editor also has certain responsibilities for editorial content.

C.L. Dmytruk, P.Eng.

Director Communications & Public Affairs
and Editor, The PEGG
