2005 PROVINCIAL SCHOOL
CHALLENGE RESULTS

Thank you to all participants in the 2005 Provincial School Challenge. We hope that students had fun with the challenge and enjoyed testing their science skills. Special thanks to teachers for organizing the challenge and judging at your school.

APEGGA is pleased to announce the following challenge results and extends congratulations to students on some truly impressive results. Prize money won by students for their schools will be presented to them at a school ceremony

 

PAPER CHAIR CHALLENGE  

Division I – Grades 1 to 3, 15 Teams Participated

 

First place: Grade 3 team:
Yellowhead Koinonia Christian School, Edson
Total weight supported by chair: 92.62 kg

 

Second place: Grade 3 team:
Dunluce School, Edmonton
Total weight supported by chair: 63.64 kg

 

Third place: Grade 1/2 team:
Calgary Montessori School, Calgary
Total weight support by chair: 24.00 kg

 

 

Division II – Grades 4 to 6, 28 Teams Participated

 

First place: Grade 6 team:
Winfield Elementary School, Winfield
Total weight supported by chair: 98.83 kg

 

Second place: Grade 4 team:
Yellowhead Koinonia Christian School, Edson
Total weight supported by chair: 97.84 kg

 

Third place: Grade 5/6 team:
Muriel Clayton Middle School, Airdrie

MOUSETRAP CAR CHALLENGE

Division II – Grades 4 to 6, 28 Teams Participated

Second place: Grade 9 student:

Total distance travelled by car: 29.4 m

 

Third place: Grade 7 team:
Crowther Memorial Junior High School, Strathmore

Division IV – Grades 10 to 12, 5 Teams Participated

 

First place: Grade 11 student:

Total distance travelled by car: 24.54 m

 

Second place: Grade 12 student:
St. Joseph’s Catholic High School, Grande Prairie
Total distance travelled by car: 15.29 m

 

Third place: Grade 11 student:
Roland Michener Secondary School, Slave Lake
