REGISTER NOW –
CONFERENCE DEADLINE LOOMS

Have you registered yet for the APEGGA Annual Conference? The ticking sound you hear is time running out.

Deadline is April 5. That’s less than three weeks away.

Theme of the APEGGA Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting this year is Partners in Professionalism – and one way to be a partner is to get involved.

Don’t miss out on our excellent professional development offerings and important APEGGA business. Executive Track Seminars are back this year for members facing the challenges found on the higher rungs of the corporate ladder. The Summit Awards will honour some of the best and brightest in the APEGGA professions. And there’s much, much more.

Events take place April 25 to 28 in Calgary. Full information is a few mouse-clicks away.

JUDGES URGENTLY NEEDED
FOR ONLINE SCIENCE CHALLENGES

APEGGA members from around the province are invited to help judge the Science Alberta Foundation’s Wonderville.ca Science Challenges. APEGGA is a sponsor of the 2007 edition of this exciting online event.

Judging takes place online from April 9 to 11. Each judge will spend about three hours all together, rating 10 different projects over the three days. Judges work in pairs, and final projects will be chosen April 12. Judging is based on pre-determined criteria.

Between 30 and 50 judges will be needed depending on the response from schools. Last year, 200 teams entered the competition.

The challenges are for student teams in Grades 7 and 8. Grade 7 students will build and design an amusement park ride. Grade 8 students will build a Rube Goldberg Machine that extracts a marble from a tube.

Please support this fun science event and sign up as a judge before March 22.

NEW SPEAKER ANNOUNCED FOR AGM

In the March PEGG, we told you that the Hon. Iris Evans, Minister of Employment, Immigration and Industry, would be the luncheon speaker at the APEGGA Annual General Meeting.

Plans have changed. The minister is, it turns out, is unable to make it.

But we’ve found a great replacement for the April 28 lunch – Peter Tertzakian, chief energy economist of ARC Financial Corporation and the author of A Thousand Barrels a Second.
