Presentation Skills in the Oil and Gas Industry

To be a successful geologist, geophysicist or engineer you need to be able to present your ideas in such a way that other people understand and become convinced that you are right about what you are saying. You will learn:

  • 9 key behavioral skills required for successful presentations.
  • Communicating without speaking.
  • Types of presentations.
  • Using a planning grid.
  • Fighting fear.
  • Strategies for great introductions.
  • Presenting the “Golden Nugget” and selling ideas.
  • Closing techniques and handling Q&A.
  • How to chair a meeting.
  • Rules for the use of humor.
  • Ethics, plagiarism, copy right, and rules of attribution.

The course is taught by Dr. Judith Lentin, P.Geol. Dr. Lentin is a Geologist who has worked in the oil and gas industry for more than 30 years, specializing in international project development. She has been presenting training materials around the world for many years. In addition to courses on presentation skills she teaches about mentoring, writing and has a unique course on the Fundamentals of the Oil and Gas Industry for non-specialists.
